AB  - Introduction/purpose: This paper presents the results of several different research studies. The inbred lines ZPPL 146 and ZPPL 159 and the maize hybrids ZP 633, ZP 735, and ZP 737 are primarily intended for human and livestock nutrition. Their selection took about four decades. Methods: Spectral bands were registered using the method of resonant Raman spectroscopy of the leaves of inbred maize lines. These spectral bands indicate the conformational characteristics of not only carotenoid molecules but also other compounds (phosphate, gluten, and amide III) in the leaf. Results: A systematic examination of the inbred lines ZPPL 146 and ZPPL 159 and their maize hybrids ZP 633, ZP 735, and ZP 737 was performed in this paper. It was stated that the new inbred lines of corn, i.e. ZPPL 146 and ZPPL 159, are rich in carotenoids and yellow pigments. These lines also have significant quantities of other valuable bioactive compounds and good physical characteristics. The lines have an upright position of the top leaves and belong to the group of maize lines with significant characteristics of the photosynthetic model. They are resistant to high temperatures and are drought tolerant. Conclusion: This paper presents the relevant properties, characteristics and parameters of the new studied inbred maize lines that can be used in selection processes in the future. High-yielding and high-quality maize hybrids, i.e. ZP 633, ZP 735, and ZP 737, have been created from the mentioned inbred maize lines. They are recognizable by their qualities. The hybrid ZP633 is especially noteworthy for human consumption (children and the elderly). Further, from the agronomic-veterinary point of view, it is confirmed that the hybrids ZP 735 and ZP 737 are the most suitable for livestock feeding with the programmed use of corn silage. The relevant agronomic, morphological and nutritional properties of the maize hybrids ZP 633, ZP 735, and ZP 737 are also presented in this paper. The results regarding the grain structure and yield height for grain and silage for the hybrids ZP 677 and ZP 684, produced in Serbia and the countries of Southeastern Europe, are also given.

The analysis of seed production of some ZP maize hybrids in 2007

AB  - The maize seed production is much more complex, sensitive and expense than the commercial maize production. Therefore a special attention should be paid during the whole process of the seed production, in order to achieve higher yields and better seed quality. Legislative regulations related to this field very precisely determine quality conditions that have to be fulfilled in order to move seed into market. The analysis of seed produced by 24 different seed growers was performed in 2007 with three most important ZP maize hybrids: ZP 341, ZP 434 and ZP 677. Approximately 17% of this production (315 ha) were carried out under irrigation conditional, while the remaining 83% of this production (1,573 ha) were performed under dry land farming conditions. It was determined that the yield was significantly lower under conditions of dry land farming, hence the share of seed fractions in the total yield and 1000-seed weight were affected. The average yield of the hybrid ZP 341 on 266 ha was 2,615 kg ha-1. Smaller fractions (6,5 - 8,3 mm) with the average 1000-seed weight of 269,3 g made 52,5% of the total yield. On the other hand larger seed fractions ( lt  8,3 - 11 mm) with the average 1000-seed weight of 342,4 g made 47,5 % of the total yield. The average yield of the hybrid ZP 434 on 1,266 ha was 2,309 kg ha-1. Smaller fractions with the average 1000-seed weight of 268,4 g made 52,5% of the total yield, while larger seed fractions with the average 1000-seed weight of 344,3 g made 51,7 % of the total yield. The average yield of the hybrid ZP 677 on 365 ha was 2,971 kg ha-1. Smaller fractions with the average 1000-seed weight of 282,3 g made 85,5% of the total yield, while larger seed fractions with the average 1000-seed weight of 333,5 g made 14,5 % of the total yield.
AB  - Proizvodnja semena kukuruza je veoma složena, osetljiva i znatno skuplja od merkantilne proizvodnje. Zbog toga se ovoj proizvodnji posvećuje posebna pažnja u cilju ostvarivanja većih prinosa i kvalitetnijeg semena. Naime zakonska regulativa iz ove oblasti striktno propisuje uslove kvaliteta neophodnih da bi seme moglo da bude stavljeno u promet. Analiza proizvodnje semena izvršena je za 3 najznačajnija ZP hibrida kukuruza: ZP 341, ZP 434 i ZP 677 u 2007. godini kod 24 proizvođača. Manji deo ove proizvodnje bio je u uslovima navodnjavanja (315 ha ili 17%), a preostalih 1.573 ha (83 %) u suvom ratarenju. Utvrđeno je da su prinosi znatno manji u suvom ratarenju, što se odrazilo na zastupljenost frakcija semena u ukupnom prinosu i masi 1000 semena. Prosečan prinos hibrida ZP 341 na 266 ha bio je 2.615 kg/ha. Od ukupnog prinosa sitnije frakcije semena (6,5 - 8,3 mm) bilo je 52,5%, sa masom 1000 semena 269,3 g. Traits of prestigious maize inbred lines relevant for the contemporary production of quality hybrid seed

AB  - The obtained results confirm the hypothesis that there are maize elite inbred lines (ZPPL 62 and ZPPL 233) that are considered prestigious and are characteristic by their water status and a greater rate of a dry down during the grain maturation. Also, they are characteristic by their efficient photosynthetic-fluorescence photo-model, which is successfully used in the contemporary technological productions of maize hybrid seed. The presented results on the dynamics of grain dry down during the maturation period and on photosynthetic and fluorescence parameters: temperature dependency of the intensity of delay chlorophyll fluorescence, the Arrhenius plot for the determination of critical temperatures (phase transition temperatures), activation energy and the angle between the ear leaf and the stalk of the maize plant, show that traits of observed inbreds are mainly based on good effects and nature of conformational and functional changes that occur in their thylakoid membranes and other chemical structures of grain and leaf tissue. Some other properties of observed prestigious maize inbred lines relevant to the seed production were also analyzed in this study.
AB  - U ovom radu potvrđuje se hipoteza da postoje elitne samooplodne linije kukuruza koje se smatraju prestižnim i koje poseduju, kako svojstvo stanja vode i njenog bržeg otpuštanja iz zrna u periodu sazrevanja, tako i svojstvo efikasnog fotosintetično-fluorescentnog fotomodela, koji se uspešno koristi u savremenim tehnologijama proizvodnje hibridnog semena kukuruza. Izloženi rezultati o dinamici otpuštanja vode iz zrna u periodu sazrevanja i o fotosintetično-fluorescentnim pokazateljima: teperaturnoj zavisnosti intenziteta zakasnele fluorescencije hlorofila, Arenijusovim kriterijumom za određivanje kritičnih temperatura (temperature faznih prelaza), energija aktivacije i veličine ugla između lista na klipu i stabljike kukuruza, pokazuju da su svojstva proučavanih linija zasnovana na dobrim efektima i prirodi strukturnih i funkcionalnih promena, koje se odigravaju u njihovim tilakoidnim membranama i drugim hemijskim strukturama tkiva zrna i lista. U radu se analiziraju i druge relevantne semenarske karakteristike proučavanih prestižnih samooplodnih linija kukuruza.
